Through its decades of operating experience, the company has developed a unique expertise not only in urban oil and gas production operations, but also in urban drilling and urban seismic exploration. As the Long Beach/Signal Hill area has grown, the company has developed operating techniques and technology that have been the foundation of successfully co-existing with closely spaced residential and commercial neighbors. To accomplish this, the company custom designs and operates most of the equipment required to maintain and drill its wells. The company developed a very successful “drill friendly” drilling operation that utilizes custom designed equipment and operating parameters that are unique to the industry. Signal Hill Petroleum has also invested in seismic technology and through its affiliate company, NodalSeismic, has developed a break through capability for completely cable free seismic data acquisition. This capability has allowed for routine data acquisition with minimal community disturbance which has proven to be critical for successful seismic operations in the Los Angeles Basin. NodalSeismic is currently gathering new, high resolution seismic data throughout the greater Long Beach area. This data is being used for reservoir exploitation in existing producing areas and to evaluate the exploration potential of nearby fault trends.
