The Barto enterprises have over 30 years experience in commercial,
industrial and residential development. In recent years, the company
has specialized in the redevelopment of petroleum "brownsfield" sites, working principally through Signal Hill Petroleum. The company is currently in various stages of redeveloping over 70 acres of former petroleum sites in the greater Long Beach area of Southern California and over 240 acres of former petroleum sites in the City of Bakersfield in Central California. The Long Beach area projects include a 24 acre site that is in the grading phase and under contract to be sold to Home Depot, three single-family residential projects totaling 125 units, a loft style, high rise residential condominium and commercial mixed use project with 135 residential units and 20,000 square feet of commercial space. Recently completed projects in the Long Beach area include the redevelopment of over 50 acres of former petroleum sites into a 150 unit single-family residential project with a retail value of over $100,000,000. The company's Bakersfield projects are all on former petroleum sites which are being redeveloped as single-family residential projects totaling over 700 units.
